Opinions and the Power of Humility

O

The dictionary defines opinion as: a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.

I have only a few deep convictions / core beliefs that I stand firm on that can’t be budged.

I have a number of strong opinions that can be solidified or shifted by new insights, revelations, and information.

And then of course I have a ton of loose opinions that I don’t usually even bother to assert with others as it is clear to me that I am in need of more information.

What I find interesting is how often opinions are expressed and defended as “Truth.” Yes, with a capital T.

I think it’s healthy (and necessary) to admit that much of what we think and express are opinions of varying strengths. Even if you sense something came from God, there’s that whole “we know in part, and prophesy in part” thing that Apostle Paul wrote about.

The humility in that admission opens us up to greater and deeper insights as we communicate with one another (and even as we continue to communicate with the all-knowing One).

P.S. This is my strong opinion. 😜
