Breaking Mental Myopia: “Black Lives Matter”
One can care deeply about black lives through their words and actions, yet never use the hashtags #BLM or #BlackLivesMatter
One can support reforms in the criminal justice system and policing, yet not financially or otherwise support the Black Lives Matter organization.
One can truly love the United States, yet acknowledge (and desire to address) her faults and injustices as it relates to black lives.
One can truly love the Church, yet acknowledge (and desire to address) her faults and injustices as it relates to black lives.
One can care deeply about black babies inside the womb without despising a focus and work for black lives outside of the womb.
One can care deeply about black lives outside of the womb without despising a focus and work on protecting black babies inside of the womb.
This transcends politics.
It bears repeating:
Mental myopia is the result of seeing people and situations through an “all or nothing” lens instead of Heaven’s (Kingdom) lens.
It is destructive and runs in direct opposition to Kingdom thinking because it discounts the all-powerful nature of our God and the fullness of the King and his kingdom (where He rules with love, grace, truth, righteousness, mercy, and justice).
